Mubarak Ganiyu, one of Nigeria’s talented youngsters, is edging closer to reaching top 1000 players on the World Junior ITF rankings.

The Nigerian teenager who has been on tour of African countries for some weeks has raked in some points on his recent competitions and rightly sits as the sixth highest-ranked Nigerian player on the world rankings.

Mubarak played in Harare Zimbabwe and Rwanda, where he picked up valuable points and the rankings revealed on Wednesday afternoon, moving up 37 places in the process.

He is now ranked 1210 in the world, from his previous ranking of 1300s in the previously released world ranking.

The Oyo State-born tennis player is one of the talented youngsters Nigerians are looking forward to dominating on the world stage in the nearest future having previously dominated the local scene.

But more than Mubarak, Prosper Okonkwo made the most of his recent trips as he has now moved up 197 places to rank 1350 in the world.

His giant leaps in the tournaments he has participated in are surely reflecting on his ranking points, and the 14-year-old will soon come clutch if he continues at this rate.

These Nigerians are the only ones who moved up the rankings of all the Nigerians in the top 10 of the ITF World rankings as obtained by Nigeria Tennis Live.
