J60 Accra: Daniel Adeleye, Prosperity Okonkwo Clash In Second Consecutive Final

Daniel Adeleye and Prosperity Okonkwo will be playing their second consecutive J60 Accra final when they square up in the Boys’ Singles final on Saturday, 12 October, 2024.

Adeleye, the tournament’s number one seed, has been the hottest player in Ghana since the competition started, winning all his matches with some grit and toughness.

En route to winning back-to-back J60 titles in Ghana, the Davis Cup player has delivered some of the most amazing moments in tennis which spectators in Ghana have been mostly excite about.

And in his third consecutive final in Accra, he will have to face fellow Nigerian, Okonkwo, in their second consecutive final match up in Ghana.

Adeleye did not drop any set in the third leg of the J60 event in Ghana, on his way to reaching the final, including a sleek 6-4, 6-3 defeat of fellow Nigerian, Franklin Jimoh, in the semifinal.

Okonkwo, meanwhile, has proven why he is one of the most talked about junior players on the bloc after consistently defeating Davis Cup player, Francky Hoimian, since the competition started.

This semifinal win for the Nigerian youngster is their second consecutive clash at the tournament, and even though it did not come easy, the J30 Accra winner made sure he ended with the win.

Okonkwo beat the Ivorian player in a final set encounter which ended 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to reach his third final in four weeks of Junior ITF competition in Ghana.

Regardless of the outcome of tomorrow’s final, a Nigerian player would have appeared in all the Boys’ Singles final since the Junior ITF event started in Ghana, and would have won four of five weeks of consistent competition.
