J60 Accra: Daniel Adeleye Defeats Lucky Danjuma To Win 4th ITF Title In 2024
Daniel Adeleye has emerged winner of the J60 Accra boys Singles event after defeating Nigerian compatriot, Lucky Danjuma, in the final.
Adeleye, the tournament’s number two seed, made sure that he was not a victim of Danjuma’s impeccable tennis all week, as he stopped the Abuja-based youngster in two straight sets.
Even the 17-year-old lost the match to his more experienced Nigerian counterpart, he had done enough to convince tennis lovers at the Tennis Centre inside the Accra Sports Stadium, that he is not a push over.

With this J60 title, Adeleye has now won four Junior ITF titles in 2024 alone, having also won three titles in Abuja this year – two J30 titles and one J60 title.
The Davis Cup player who relinquished his top spot on the Junior ITF rankings (for Nigerian players) to Seun Ogunsakin recently, will be hoping to bounce back and rediscover the form that made him one of the most feared players across the continent.

Danjuma, currently ranked 1762, will be on his mobile device all day on Monday, 30 September, 2024, when the new junior ITF rankings will be released. But it is yet to be seen if he will surpass his career-high 1260 ranking he accrued in 3 January, 2022.
