Ayomiposi Agboola showed exactly why he had to travel to Ghana for the J60 Accra event after upsetting a top seed to reach his first ever J60 quarterfinal.

The Lagos-based tennis player fought tooth and nail to record what can pass as his biggest win on the tennis circuit till date when he played in the second round of the J60 Accra event.

Agboola defeated Ilia Mehrabani, the number eight seed, in a final set encounter that got the spectators inside the tennis section of the Accra Sports Centre on their feet.

The Nigerian who got into the Main Draw through the qualifying rounds, won the match against the Iranian 7-6 (5), 0-6, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinal.

He was, however, unlucky in his quarterfinal match against fellow Nigerian, Franklin Jimoh, who defeated him in two straight sets to reach the semis.

Jimoh will now face number one seed and Nigerian compatriot, Daniel Adeleye, in the semifinals which all but guarantees that a Nigerian will reach the J60 Accra final for the third consecutive week.
