    J30 Abuja: Meet The Boys, Girls Singles Finalists

    After five days of thorough competitive tennis action at the J30 Abuja tourney, the finalists have emerged in the boys and girls Singles event.

    Seun Ogunsakin, playing in front of a packed crowd inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Abuja, upset Joseph Franklin Jimoh in the semis match, winning 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

    The second boys semifinal match between the tournament’s number one seed Daniel Adeleye and Ikenna Prosper Okonkwo also ended as a final set affair.

    Adeleye defeated Okonkwo 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 and will now take on his former hitting partner, Ogunsakin, in an interesting finale inside the centre court of the tennis section.

    In the girls’ Singles, Ohunene Yakubu and Etoro Bassey will have to slug it out in a winner takes all finale which also promises to be as exciting.

    Yakubu saw off Doubles partner, Osaherun Osayimwen in a 6-0, 6-1 game while Bassey, who also defeated her Doubles partner, Destiny Okhinaye, won 6-2, 6-4.

    The first leg of the J30 Abuja event will now come to an exciting close on Sunday, 18 February, 2024, with the finale of the Singles matches.
