ITF U-18 Junior Circuit: Oyinlomo Starts Third Leg As Number 5 Seed; Phillips Seeded Too

Winning the Ghana leg of the ongoing ITF U-18 World Junior Circuit has helped Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadri, as she is now being ranked among the top seeds to play at the third leg of the ongoing in Lome, Togo.

According to Nigerian Tennis Live‘s regular updates from the junior tournament, Oyinlomo became a ‘target’ for players after her eye-catching performance in the win over Yasmin Ezzat from Egypt in the Ghana leg of the ITF championship.

She lost in the quarter-final to the same opponent but ironically made it to the Doubles final while partnering the same player.

Nigeria’s Abayomi Phillips is one of the seeded players in the Boys Singles event at the ongoing ITF U-18 Junior Circuit in Togo.

In the second leg being played in Togo, Oyinlomo is the number five seed just one place behind her friendly foe and doubles partner, Ezzat, as the Nigerian star sets out again to chase honours at the ITF juniors.

She got a bye in the first round and will be playing against Cameroon’s Patricia Nguemo – who also got a bye – in the second round.

In a related development, Nigerian Tennis Live checks also revealed that Nigeria’s Abayomi Phillips who played through the qualifiers to make it to the Main Draw in their first week in Togo, is now among the seeded players for the second phase of their Togo adventure.

Phillips, who won the Doubles in the Ghana leg of the tournament, also got a bye and will be waiting for a Beninoise or a Togolese opponent in the second round.

Other Nigerian players are in action today, however, with the likes of Matthew Abamu, Wilson Igbinovia, Michael Ayoola, Emmanuel Jebutu, Mariam Balogun, among others, competing for places in the second round of the ITF championship.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring the players’ performance and progress in the small West African country and report to our teeming audience.
