ITF U-18 Circuit: Brave Marylove Puts Up A Fight, Loses To Tournament’s No 3 Seed

It was simply a case of her best not being enough when Nigeria’s Marylove Edwards came up against America’s Sofia Camila Rojas in their second round match at the ongoing ITF U-18 Circuit in Aruba.

The Nigerian youngster lost 4-6, 1-6 to the vastly experienced number three seed.

Even though the loss meant that she exited the tournament at a rather early stage, Edwards – of the IMG Tennis Academy in Florida – would have successfully announced herself on the big stage.

Maylove’s fight was not enough to rescue her from the number three seed at the tournament

The Nigerian starlet who had been used to winning against girls of U-12, 14 and 16 had to step up and taste what it feels like to play professional tennis, albeit in the junior cadre, and her experience will remain invaluable.

With this result, Edwards returns to her Academy to continue her tennis lessons, education and wholistic development, as she hopes to step into the boots of other great players to have come out of the IMG Academy.

As always, Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring the player’s progress and report to our teeming readers.
