ITF Sets Registration Deadline For J30 Abuja Tournament

Nigeria Tennis Live can report that the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has set a deadline for the J30 Abuja tournament registration.

Nigeria is set to host two weeks of J30 and J60 Abuja events starting from 3 June, 2024, and checks have revealed that the world organizing tennis body has set a deadline for registration.

According to the ITF, players who intend to participate in the Main Draw of the event should have registered on or before Tuesday, 14 May, 2024, while the withdrawal deadline is Tuesday, 21 May, 2024.

Nigeria Tennis Live checks also showed that the Singles Main Draw sign-in time and date have been pegged at 6pm on 2 June, 2024 while Qualifying sign-in time and date have been fixed for 6pm (local time) on 31 May, 2024.

The J30 Abuja event will be the third week of Junior ITF events in Nigeria after initial two weeks of junior tennis activities at the Package B of the National Stadium in Abuja.

Seun Ogunsakin won both legs of the J30 Abuja, defeating number one seed, Daniel Adeleye, in the Boys’ final of the first leg and beating Prosper Okonkwo in the final of the second leg.

In the Girls’ event, top Nigerian Junior on the ITF ranking, won the first leg final against Etoro Bassey and lost to Khadijat Mohammed in the second leg.

The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) also slashed registration (sign-in) fee for the Nigerian players by 50% during the two weeks of ITF competition in Abuja, but it yet undecided if this will repeat itself for the coming event.

Respected and vastly experienced ITF Umpire, Kehinde Ijaola, has been designated as the Tournament Director for the J30 event, details of the J60 event are yet to be made public by the ITF.
