Nigeria’s Angle McCleod on Wednesday, September 14, caused an unlikely upset at the ongoing ITF junior championship in Togo, West Africa when she defeated number three seed Maxine NG from Singapore in the quarter final event.
McCleod who lost her mother last year, is also in the quarter finals of the doubles event with her partner, Oyinlomo Quadri with whom she lost the first leg of the event.

Speaking on his players’ chances of making it to the podium at the end of the tournament, Coach Ubale Mohammed revealed just what they need to do to get to the finals.
“With the right attitude and focus, I am sure that these players will make us even more proud than they have already made the team here in Togo,” Ubale said.
McCleod who is being sponsored by Mr Walter Akpani, the MD/CEO of Providus Bank Plc, will in the nearest future, travel to one of the biggest tennis academies in Europe to further her education and career.
