Nigeria Tennis Live findings have revealed that the fast approaching AZIMUTH Shipping Lines Limited Junior Tennis Championship is gathering serious steam as youngsters have begun to indicate keen interest in the competition.
The tournament which is scheduled to hold from 20-25 January, 2020, is being hosted at the tennis section of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, is already interesting several youngsters scattered across the country.
Our correspondent gathered that as at 6.00pm on Thursday, 9 January, no fewer than 100 junior tennis players had contacted the organizers of the tournament about their possible participation in the competition.
Recall that Captain Martins Owolabi, the sponsor of the competition and the MD/CEO of AZIMUTH Shipping Lines Limited had promised a different competitive atmosphere with this year’s challenge.
The players seem to have tapped into this already and are seeking to participate in the event which promises educational grants and great rewards for the winners.
As at the time of filing this report i could not get the exact number of players who have indicated their interests in playing the competition, but Coach Richard Inyang, the main organizer of the event, when asked how many had registered or signified interest in playing, said: “Close to 100.”
