How Marylove Became Nigeria’s No 1 (FULL RANKINGS)

Buzzing tennis sensation and youngster, Marylove Edwards, has risen to become Nigeria’s number one female tennis player in the recently released rankings by the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Nigeria Tennis Live can confirm.

Marylove defeated Aanu Aiyegbusi to win her first ever national competition when the pair met at the Dala Hard Court event in Kano and got even one more when they met in the final of the VEMP Open in Abuja. The youngster ran away with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

With these back to back wins, Marylove had amassed enough points to go clear of Oyinlomo Quadre at the summit of the Nigerian national rankings, to become the current national champion and top ranked female tennis player in Nigeria.

In the Men’s category, Joseph Imeh remains the player to beat and simply consolidated his place as Nigeria’s hottest player at the moment.

Like Marylove, Imeh won the Dala and VEMP Open competitions, but against different difficult foes who put him on his toes all match long.

The Davis Cup player has practically won every tournament there is to be won in the country in the last year, and does not seem to be slowing down as the Rainoil Tennis Open Championship tournament draws nigh.

In the recent rankings released by the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Marylove and Imeh are sitting pretty on the apex of the ratings and are likely to remain there till the end of the tennis season in Nigeria.
