The first week of the Futures 4 of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship has begun on a rather surprising note with Karim Mohamed-Mamooun, the tournament’s number one seed, has been sent packing from the Men’s Singles.
Nigerian Tennis Live checks revealed that his match against Netherland’s Fransen Stephan lasted a minute more than one hour and the Egyptian, who is a regular in Lagos, fell like a pack of cards to the firepower of the Dutch man, losing in two straights set of 6-2, 6-2.
Enosoregbe lost his Singles match and will now focus on the doubles. |
In other matches, Nigeria’s Abdulmumuni Babalola and Clifford Enosoregbe lost to Johan Sebatien Tatlot and Andrew Watson of France and Great Britain respectively in 0-6, 3-6 and 3-6, 0-6 games.
Imeh Joseph also retired in his game against Serbian Ilija Vucic having lost the first set 1-6.
Nigerian players will be hoping for a better fortune for the remaining players in the two-week long ITF pro-circuit which enters day two on Tuesday.
