In what can be regarded as a repeat of the 2017 Senior CBN Open final, Abdulmumuni Babalola and Joseph Imeh will come up head to head in a preliminary match to qualify for the Main Draw of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.
Babalola and Imeh, both Davis Cup players for the country, will be meeting for the third time this year and are paired at 1-1 in their head to head in 2017 alone.
Either Joseph Imeh and Abdulmumuni Babalola will not a place in the main draw of the Governor’s Cup Futures 5. |
Babalola defeated the youngster in two straight sets to win the CBN Open even though the former junior international was believed to be in blistering form to inflict a painful defeat on the ageless tennis star.
But Imeh vowed to get his revenge and rightly did when with his NCC League Team Muller, he peppered Babalola in two straight sets and lead his team to victory as they looked set to qualify for the semis of the league.
Nigerian Tennis Live gathered that in a similar fashion, Imeh will trade tackles with Babalola in the final qualifying series to make it to the Main Draws of the Futures 5, as neither of them has enough ranking points to stroll easily into the knock out stage of the championship.
Our correspondent will monitor the encounter and present a detailed report after the match has been concluded and the draws for the week two of the tournament made public on the evening of Sunday, 15 October.
