Wheelchair tennis in Nigeria will soon receive another massive boost following the assurances of Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju, the President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), that he will get new wheelchairs for the physically challenged players.
One of the challenges of the players in the disabled sport is the constant absence of wheelchairs for them to compete well, even on the local front. But this may soon be a thing of the past following the assurances given by the NTF President.
Recall that at the beginning of his tenure as the head of the tennis body in Nigeria, Akindoju promised to revive the sport in Nigeria, promising that the sport will no longer suffer such fate as he affirmed that it is also part of the board’s priorities, especially because it has suffered a decline in recent years.

And to back his words up, the sponsor of the DAYAK Futures in Abuja told Nigerian Tennis Live that: “I shall be traveling to China after the federation’s AGM this month and there are some wheelchairs that I have sighted on some websites.
“I am working on getting people to collaborate and get as many as possible for the players, but if we do not get, I shall see the number I can personally get for these players.
“But the idea is to support these players and make them better because the sport has suffered a serious decline in the past few years. We want to make sure we get to the very top in the physically challenged sport again.”
