Nigeria’s Sylvester Emmanuel is gradually moving to the heights his elder brother, Sunday Emmanuel, attained with tennis in Nigeria as the youngster is now the country’s number two male tennis player.

In the latest national ranking exclusively obtained by Naija Tennis Special, it was gathered that the player who defended his Dala Hard Court Championship about some weeks ago has stepped up a lot and is staking a claim for the number one spot in no distant future.

The US-based tennis star is tied on 170 points with number one player, Michael Moses and will be looking forward to beating his brother’s record by staying as Nigeria’s most valuable male tennis player in the coming years.

Sylvester Emmanuel is likely to emerge as Nigeria’s number one male tennis player in the coming months

Also, another emerging tennis star, Joseph Imeh, is presently ranked number five in the country as veteran star, Abdulmumuni Babalola (no 4) and Thomas Otu (no 3), complete the top five elite tennis players in the country.

In the female category, Christie Agugbom maintains her monopoly on the number one spot as she has done in recent years, while former national champion, Blessing Samuel, also a former number one, is now up to second on the log.

Newcomer, Melissa Ifidzhen is up as number three while Patience Onebamhoin is a surprise inclusion as number four toppling Sarah Adegoke, who is now sitting pretty at number five.
