Naija Tennis Special scoops have it that budding youngster, Sylvester Emmanuel may pick up one of the Wild Card slots for next week’s Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.

According to a reliable informant, the youngster, who won the Ikoyi Club Tennis Masters last year December is likely to be picked alongside former number one, Clifford Enosoregbe, to be Nigeria’s flagbearer for the Wild Cards.

Russia-based Mellisa Ifidzen, who already arrived the country for the international tournament, is also likely to be among those penciled down to get the slot.

But the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) secretary, Mrs Gloria Ekwenkpu, who spoke with our correspondent on Thursday, 3 December, noted that a meeting to decide the players who would get the Wild Card slots would be held on Saturday before sign-in.

She said: “That is where we would decide on which players to get the Wild Card slots or not.”

Meanwhile, the NTF president, Engr. Sani Ndanusa, believes the players do not have any excuse not to beat their foreign counterparts to the big prize when hostilities begin next week.
