Mr. Saidu Musa, the president of the Nigeria Umpires Association, in a brief chat with our correspondent, disclosed that as a national tournament, the Rainoil Championship will attract national ranking points as well.
He said: “Of course, the tournament is a national championship and it will attract ranking points just like others.”
The bronze badge highly rated ITF referee, however, gave a caveat to the ranking points if the tournament does not continue in 2018.
“But if they don’t hold the tournament next year, all the points will be wiped off, that’s the rule,” he added.
Barring any last minute change, the Rainoil Tennis Open Tournament is billed to hold at the Lagos Country Club in Ikeja from 8 – 17 December, 2017.
Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring events preceding the tournament and update our followers on the latest developments as they unfold.
