    Exclusive: NCC Tennis League Organizers Open Up On Reason For Delay, Target New Date

    The International Tennis Academy (ITA), the body in charge of the annual Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) Tennis League, has revealed reasons for the delay experienced in the organization of this year’s competition.

    Nigeria Tennis Live had on two different occasions, reported a change of date for the tournament following reports by the organizers that they were putting final touches on their preparations.

    But in a recent chat with our correspondent, Godwin Kienka, director of the ITA, informed Nigeria Tennis Live that there have been series of gridlocks on their way to ensuring this tournament kicks off soon.

    He noted, however, that efforts were in place to ensure that these hiccups were taken off the line and the tournament will kick off towards the later part of the year.

    “The challenges with the NCC League is being sorted out already and we’re looking at after the Africa Games to kick off,” Kienka began.

    “There were some setbacks, but we have resolved them already and things are taking shape now.”

    The tennis former Nigerian tennis giant also informed that all the teams which were supposed to participate would still be involved in the competition in spite of the late commencement.

    According to him: “12 teams to still participate and we’ll follow through with the model that we have on ground.”

    This year’s edition of the league tournament is also attracting about N300,000 add ons to the full range of tennis equipment on display for the competition.
