Joseph Imeh, one of Nigeria’s most improved tennis players in the past few months, has made the cut for this year’s Davis Cup team tournament as Nigeria makes another attempt to get it right in the team event.
For so many years now, the Nigerian contingent to the tournament has not made it beyond the Group three of the World Championship, but the technical committee is already working hard to make this a thing of the past.
Joseph Imeh may be making his first appearance at the Davis Cup Team tournament all things being equal. |
And one of the latest additions to the players expected to camp for the tournament is none other than Imeh, who has shone like a million in recent months.
Naija Tennis Special exclusively gathered that the former junior champion will be making his first appearance at the team championship when the Nigerian contingent fly to Egypt in July.
According to sources, Imeh will join regulars like newly-crowned CBN Open champion, Abdulmumuni Babalola, Clifford Enosoregbe, Sylvester Emmanuel, Christian Paul and Thomas Otu as the standby for the championship.
The players are expected to be in camp any moment from now to acclimatize with the clay court where the tournament is always played.
Naija Tennis Special will bring you updates on the final list of players agreed on to play in the championship.
