Dala: All Eyes On Blessing Otu, Marylove, Oiza In Kano

Smarting from three weeks of consistent competition at junior ITF tournaments in Togo and Benin Republic, Marylove Edwards and Oiza Yakubu will be two of the top seeds at the Dala Hard Court tournament in Kano.

Edwards is Nigeria’s number three ranked player in the Women’s Singles while Yakubu is ranked number five just below Sarah Adegoke, a former national champion but both players are among the top seeds at the competition which kicks off the Main Draw on Monday, 1 November.

According to the Draws made available to Nigeria Tennis Live on Sunday night, Aanu Aiyegbusi is the Dala tournament’s top seed, and it seems she will battle mostly the junior players who are growing in leaps in bounds.

Blessing Otu, one of the youngsters who featured prominently at the National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara, is also one of the players who will battle for honors at the National competition in the northern part of the country.

The player ranked 20th on the national ratings will come up against Rachael Adunoye ranked 13th in Nigeria, in the second Women Singles match of the day, and all eyes will be on the youngster who won Silver for team Delta at the National Youth Games.

In the other matches slated for Monday in Dala, Aiyegbusi will play against Asogba Toyin, Osareimen Airhunwunde will be up against Blessing Omotayo. Also, Blessing Danjuma will take on Bunmi Are just as Maryam Salami will tackle Omolalde Aderemi.
