Christopher Bulus could not make it beyond the quarterfinal of the M15 Fayetteville event in the United States after an overwhelming start to the tournament.

The US-based Nigerian tennis player was stunned by Niccolo Baroni from Italy in what could have been his leap to the semis of the 15k event.

Bulus, a semifinalist at the M15 Vaasa event in Finland a few weeks ago, had to settle for a quarterfinal spot at the tournament held in America last week.

Despite this ‘seeming setback’, the former Lagos-based player who has been on the rise since the Davis Cup event in Abuja where he spearheaded Nigeria’s qualification for World Group II, has added to his ATP points.

In a newly-released ranking sighted by Nigeria Tennis Live, Bulus will be starting the new week as the world’s number 964 ranked player, moving eight spots from his previous ranking.

As at the time of filing this report, our correspondent could not certainly detail the next tournament the Kaduna-born Nigerian star will be playing in.

However, chances are that he will be playing a bit more in the coming weeks as the Tennis Innovators Academy (TIA) player looks to build on his current ranking and end the year on a high.

Nigeria Tennis Live, as always, will keep our readers posted on developments from the Nigerian star player’s activities as they come.
