CAT U-12: Unbeatable Team Nigeria Set For Crucial Girls’ Final, Boys’ Semis

After continuing with their impeccable run of form at the ongoing CAT Under 12 Championship in Benin Republic, the Nigerian contingent may have secured their spots on the podium.

The Nene Yakubu-led girls are yet to taste defeat in their three games played so far, winning 3-0, 2-1 and 3-0 ahead of the final clash against Togo on Friday morning.

Nigeria Tennis Live reports that the girls routed home players in an emphatic victory with a five-star performance.

Ogunjobi Success Elizabeth crushed Dahilia Alao 6-0, 6-1 just as starlet Ohunene Yakubu won Berepa Kassa 6-1, 6-1 in the singles events.

Yakubu would later partner Khadijat Mohammed to annihilate Affo Anita and Dahilia Alao in a 6-0, 6-0 game to complete an unassailable defeat of all their opponents.

For the boys, it was a case of superiority in their match against Senegal.

The match started with Onyekachi Ogumjiofor besting Iyad Sounds 6-0, 6-2 while the impressive 

Oluwaseun Ogunshakin got the better of Ilan Ezedin 6-1, 6-2

Ogunshakin paired Yakubu Yohana to outstrips Mohammad Gueye and Ilan Ezedin in a 6-0, 6-2 game.

With these results, the Nigerian youngsters are delicately poised to clinch the titles in Benin as the boys play the host for a place in the final just as the girls battle play Togo for the ultimate prize.
