The Nigerian players who represented the country at the just concluded West & Central African Junior Championship in Togo have won five trophies.

The players, Nigeria Tennis Live gathered, swept the team event after falling short in the individual events for the Boys and Girls U-14 & 16.

Seun Ogunsakin and Ikenna Okonkwo were the most amazing players in the Boys U-16 as they were no match for all their counterparts from other parts of the region.

Both Nigerian teenagers won gold and silver respectively in the individual event.

However, in the team event, all the players teamed up, rallied from their defeats in the individual events and played for each other to emerge victorious on all fronts.

As at the time of filing this report, our correspondent could not retrieve pictures from the event in Togo, but reports from the tiny west African country have it that the players are overwhelmed with joy at the latest development.

In the boys U-14, Seyi Ogunsakin, Joel Michael and Chukwudubem Amasiani gave Nigeria the victory while Gloria Samuel, Goodnews Aina and Lorelay led the girls U-14 charge for glory.

Buzzing Khadijat Muhammed and Bright Emmanuel held the forte for the girls U-16 while Gbolahan Olawale, Okonkwo and Ogunsakin donned Nigeria’s colours for the boys U-16.

Congratulations to team Nigeria and to the Nigeria Tennis Federation on this amazing feat of qualifying for the Main AJC event which will take place later in the year.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs on the players and federations’ preparations ahead of the competition which will crown new junior champions of Africa.
