Team Nigeria to the Davis Cup in Nairobi, Kenya have been drawn against the trio of Benin, Rwanda and Cameroon in the Pool A of the tournament, Nigerian Tennis Live checks in the east African country have revealed.
The Nigerian contingent to Kenya which consists of Joseph Imeh, Christian Paul and Sylvester Emmanuel are captained by Abdulmumin Babalola and will fancy their chances after being polled against relatively beatable teams.
Sylvester Emmanuel is one of Nigeria’s representatives at the Davis Cup tournament in Kenya. |
According to the draws, the Pool B of the Group has hosts Kenya, Algeria, Namibia, Mozambique and Uganda to determine who faces the winners in the second pool.
Nigeria will fancy their chances against Benin Republic, even though they boast some tough players, in the mould of Alexis Klegou, Felix Hounkpevi and Dadlmas N’tcha, as our crop of players have played against them before in past tournaments.
The Nigerian team is ranked fourth going into this tournament and will be working really hard on emerging as the second team in the pool so as to fight for promotion to World Group II, a situation which has eluded us for many years.
Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring the situation in Kenya and report the latest developments to our followers from all over the world.
