Sylvester Emmanuel has proven how much fight he’s got in him after coming down from a set to defeat potential finalist, Clifford Enosoregbe 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, in a fantastic game of tennis at the tennis section of the National Stadium in Abuja.
Nigerian Tennis Live gathered that the Davis Cup star who was responsible for the defeat of Joseph Imeh in the quarterfinal, will fancy his chances of winning the elusive CBN Open trophy which he is yet to win.
Sylvester Emmanuel makes it to his first CBN Open final since the tournament’s inception after defeating Clifford Enosoregbe in a final set match. |
With this win, the man fondly referred to as Nigeria’s ‘king of clay’, will now clash against Abdulmumin Babalola, his Davis Cup captain to determine who wins the coveted N700k prize money.
Babalola ended the run of Uche Oparaoji, the surprise package in the men’s singles event at this year’s tournament, with an unsurprising 6-1, 6-3 win to play in the CBN Open final, back-to-back.
The Davis Cup team captain knows that a win for him will not only cement his place as one of Nigeria’s greatest tennis players ever, but as one of the unassailable winners of the CBN Open in the new era.
Nigerian Tennis Live will report the details of that final match which will take place at the Package B of the national Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday, 30 June.
