In what can be referred to as a ‘made-in-Nigeria’ victory, Sylvester Emmanuel and Calvin Hemery from France have won their doubles match against de Paula Fabiano and Fernando Romboli, the number one seed in the doubles event of the ongoing Dayak Tennis Open in Abuja.
The pair who have Nigerian blood, were pushed to the brink before winning in straight tie-breaking sets of 7-6(4), 7-6(2) against the Brazilians.

This win comes following Sylvester’s loss to Canada’s Brayden Schnur and Hemery’s perfect defeat of Christian Paul in the second round of the tournament.
Sylvester has now qualified for the quarterfinal stage of the championship for the second consecutive time, a situation which implies that his doubles ranking points would have gone up at the end of the Futures 2.
