    Ohunene Jumps 188 Places, Breaks Into Top 1000 In World Rankings

    Nigeria’s Ohunene Yakubu has broken into the top 1000 junior tennis players in the world according to the latest ITF Junior Tennis rankings released on Monday, 18 September, 2023.

    The Nigerian youngster moved up 188 places in the recently released rankings after her run to the finals of the J30 event in Ghana last week.

    Now 975 in the world, the younger Yakubu sister is Nigeria’s highest ranked player on the ITF standings as she seeks to consolidate her spot in world junior tennis rankings.

    Etoro Bassey (1604) who dropped 13 places, is the second placed Nigerian on the rankings while talented youngster Khadijat Mohammed (1637) follows closely in third place after dropping 14 spots.

    Ozi-oiza Yakubu (1813) and Blessing Otu (2081) make up the top 5 Nigerian girls on the rankings as Nigerians look forward to more improvements following their exploits on the ITF Junior Circuit in Ghana.

    Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring the progress of these youngsters as they continue with their tennis development across the world.
