Nigeria’s tennis rave of the moment, Oyinlomo Quadri has won the ITF Junior Circuit in Togo after defeating her French opponent, Karine Marion Job, 6-3, 6-3.
The Nigerian tennis champ who is now ranked 579 in the world, wasted no time in registering her intention and got the best of the number two seed in a rather quick defeat.
This defeat of Job is more like a revenge on the Nigerian players whose scalp the French player was responsible for during the tournament.
Behold Oyinlomo Quadri, the new champion of world junior tennis. |
On her way to the final, Job defeated Venus Ubiebi in the second round and finished off another Nigerian, Angel McCleod in the next round.
But Quadri, who has been a revelation since the beginning of the three-legged tournament, made sure she was not added to the Nigerian casualties on the list of the French star player.
This win will all but guarantee her move to the top 300 players in the world having begun the tournament as an unranked player on the ITF.
Coach Abel Ubiebi who broke the news to Naija Tennis Special was only full of gratitude to God for the performance of his player after making him and indeed Nigeria proud at the age-grade competition where she is competing for the very first time.
As at the time of filing this report, the players had just ended the match.
We shall bring pictures and clips from the presentation as they come in.
