BREAKING: Nigeria’s Quadre Crushes South African To Win First Junior ITF Match Of The New Decade
Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre has just defeated South Africa’s Jessica Portwig win her first match of the new decade after some unconvincing performances in Tunisia across two legs.
The Nigerian superstar had struggled in her first two weeks of tennis action in Tunisia, playing the Grade 2 Junior ITF event without recording as much as win during the event.
But she moved on to Pretoria, South Africa, and recorded her first win of the competition courtesy of a two-set drubbing of one of the home players, to put her in a good position for the next phase of the competition.
Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that a spirited Quadre, the competition’s number two seed, won 6-1, 6-4 against the player ranked 616 in the world junior placings.
With this result, the Nigerian youngster who is one year younger than her opponent, will shift her focus to the doubles event which takes place later on Tuesday, where she would be partnering a Moroccan player for a place in the quarters of the team event.
