Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadri has defeated Yassin Ezzmat from Egypt 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 to win the 1st leg of the ongoing ITF U-18 Junior Circuit in Ghana.
The youngster who is fast recovering her predatory instincts was all shades of superb in her match against the number five seed who herself, also had a great tournament, as she fought her way to the final while clipping some stubborn wings.
Oyinlomo is in red-hot form at the moment. She just won the first leg of the ITF U-18 Junior Circuit in Ghana. |
Quadri, who won three legs of ITF Circuits years ago, had lost the first set to the tough opponent and was not her usual self, but she kept pressing on and her mental toughness paid off after the second set as she raced to a 6-1 win.
The final set was not as easy as one would have expected as the Nigerian superstar went down 0-2 to her opponent who had her mother in the sidelines to cheer her up and give her advice.
Quadri never gave up, however, as she kept fighting and continued exploiting her opponent’s weaknesses, all of which later paid off as she won the match 6-2.
The Nigerian players will now spread their tentacles to other parts of the continent as they move to Togo for the second leg of the ITF Junior Circuit.
Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring the players to ensure a proper coverage of their adventure on the circuit.
