BREAKING: Nigeria’s Abayomi Phillips Rises In Recent Junior ITF Rankings, Jebutu Drops
Abayomi Phillips, Nigeria’s highest ranked junior male tennis player, has moved two places up the ladder, in spite of an unimpressive performance in Stavanger, Norway.
Nigeria Tennis Live checks on the ITF website showed that the player has moved two places upwards on the log even though he could not beat the harsh weather situation in Norway to achieve his goal of winning the J5 competition.
Phillips is now ranked 485 in the world, to keep improving on his top 500 spot on the world junior rankings as he continues with his upwards leap in junior tennis.
His counterpart, Emmanuel Jebutu, was not lucky, however, as he dropped one spot to now rank 973 in the world, even though he still held firmly to his top 1000 spot in the rankings released on Monday, 9 December.
Jebutu played in the Main Draw of the Bergen Juniors in Norway, but was dealt a massive blow by a home player as he could not withstand the weather condition of the European country.
Musa Mohammed who won the second leg of the Abuja junior tournament, maintained his spot on the rankings as held on to his 883rd spot on the rankings which he got having amassed 55 points.
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring the players’ rankings and report to our teeming audience as they are released by the ITF on a weekly basis.
