Breaking! Canice Abua Defeats Oparaoji To Win Dala Championship
Canice Abua has defeated Uche Oparaoji to win the Men’s Singles title at the Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship in Kano.
Abua who has had a fantastic week, stepped up when it mattered the most to defeat Oparaoji, the tournament’s number one seed and Nigeria’s number two male tennis player.
In the first set of the encounter which was almost one-sided, the former Nigerian number one player ran riot with a quick 6-0 win over his opponent.

Abua, however, rallied back in the second set to take the game 6-1 and put himself back into the game and with a chance to fight again in the final set.
And fight he did in the final set as he took an outrageous 4-1 lead before finishing the game with a 6-2 win and claim his first senior national title.
This win will mean a lot to the Abuja-based tennis player after being in the mix for different camps ahead of the Africa Games and training with the guys for the Davis Cup.
Abua may also have done his chances of being with the team for the 2025 Davis Cup a lot of good after emerging winner in a sensational battle in Kano.
