BNP Paribas World Team Cup African Qualifiers Serves Off In Nigeria
No fewer than 10 African countries are represented at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Qualifying series which serves off on Wednesday, 7 February, 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital.
The event will determine the nations to represent Africa at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Turkey later this year.
Nigeria Tennis Live reports that ten nations will feature players in the Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles events and will play round robin games from where group winners will play for the final qualification.
Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, Cameroon, Mauritius, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa are the countries with representatives at the competition.
Nine teams will contest in the Men’s event while seven teams will trade serves in the Women’s event in a round robin format.

Winners of the Men’s and Women’s events will qualify for the BNP Paribas World Team Cup event scheduled to hold from 7-12 May in Turkey.

Activities on Wednesday will kick off with a colourful opening ceremony, where all the teams will file out in their national colours before matches start.
Nigeria and Morocco qualified for the Women’s and Men’s events respectively at the 2023 edition of the competition, and will be hoping to reclaim their slots when action resumes.
