Bergen Junior ITF: Wild Card Entrant Outclasses Nigeria’s Jebutu In Norway

Nigeria’s chances of advancing at the ongoing Junior ITF Circuit in Bergen, Norway, was cut short by a home player, after crushing Emmanuel Jebutu in two straight sets.

Jebutu, seeded eight for the competition, stood no chance against Jonathan Berling, a wild card entrant, who was clinical in ending the match in a 6-0, 6-3 game.

The Nigerian youngster who’s ranked 972 on the world junior rankings, was tipped as one of those players to ensure a representation of the country in the second round, but he could not get past the Norwegian player.

With this result, Nigeria’s progress at the juniors has been cut short and the player will have to return to the country after their experience in the European country for two consecutive weeks.

Like his counterpart, Abayomi Phillips, Jebutu may have unable to cope with the extremely cold weather condition in Norway, even though the matches were played inside an indoor court.

Prior to the commencement of the competition, there were high hopes that the Nigerian youngsters would go a bit far in the tournament, but it was not meant to be.

Nigeria Tennis Live understands that the players have their best during the competition,  but the cold in Norway caused the major havoc for their chances of progressing.

Our correspondent shall be having exclusive interviews with the youngsters on arrival, to find out the true state of things in Norway.
