Babalola Set For Next Assignment As Junior Tennis Coach, To Lead Team Nigeria To AJC/ITF Circuit In Togo
Abdulmumin Babalola will continue his fairy-tale run with the youngsters when he leads the Nigerian U-14 Team to the ITF/CAT Junior Circuit in Togo.
Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the tennis maestro will be in charge of the team that will be representing Nigeria at the tournament in Lome, Togo. The tournament is billed to take place from 30 March – 5 April.
In a chat with our correspondent, Babalola, a southpaw player, revealed that he relishes the opportunity to work with young tennis players, especially as he will have the opportunity to pass some of his knowledge in the game to them.
Asked what he thinks about the Nigeria Tennis Federation’s decision to have him take the kids to an international tournament, the record-chasing former national champion believes it is a big deal for him.
“It’s a thing of joy and at the same time, it is a big post in tennis because to develop young kids requires a professional coach,” he explained.
He added: “The professional coach should be able to teach the kids the 5-way games and the new methodology of tennis, I am happy but it is a big task.”
The former CBN Open winner also revealed plans towards to the tournament, as the players are expected to commence preparations very soon.
“We should be in Lagos by next week for preparation so by then, I can tell you how prepared we are,” he told Nigeria Tennis Live.
The youngsters expected to participate in the competition are Gabriel Inyang, Oiza Yakubu, among others.
