Organizers of the annual Azimuth Shipping Lines Junior Tennis Championship have given an update on the grant for players at the tournament.
Azimuth, considered Nigeria’s biggest and most anticipated junior national tournament, gives educational grants to players from the quarterfinal stage and this year’s edition is not an exception.
Nigeria Tennis Live gathered authoritatively, that plans are currently in top gear for the hosting of the 2024 edition of the Azimuth Championship holding in Lagos State.
According to Mrs. Jumoke Yakubu, the Tournament Director for the 2024 edition, the competition which is in its sixth year, “Our educational grants are for all categories and they get the grants from the quarterfinals of the tournament.

“Each quarterfinalist gets N20,000, semifinalists get N30,000, finalists get N50,000 while the winners get N100,000 each, and these will all come with prizes for the players”.
The players and their coaches are expected to arrive on 14 January while the event proper kicks off on Monday, 15 January, 2024.
“The tournament will be holding at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos, and the closing ceremony will be on Saturday, 20 January, 2024,” Mrs. Yakubu added.
The junior national open competition which attracts players from all over the country features competitions among U-12, 14 & 16 Boys and Girls who go through a thorough screening process before being registered.
