Mofifunoluwa Atilola was one of the outstanding players when the Zenith Bank Next Generation Masters and FE&P Invitational events served off in Lagos on Wednesday, 7 August, 2024.
The national U-12 champion had a good game on the first day of the FE & P Invitational for 12,14 & Unders as she went head-to-head with Emmanuella Kwange, one of Nigeria’s finest juniors.
The match which ended 8-10, 10-5, 10-6 in favour of the Lagos-based Atilola was a cracker and a repeat of one of their previous final matches.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the match was a thriller and a crowd puller as the spectators could not have enough of the duel.
In some of the matches played on the opening day of the five-day tournament, John Peter Oche came out tops during a keen contest against budding tennis sensation Chukwudubem Amasiani.
Henry Aina of Ondo State was also no match for Lagos boy, Basit Ajao in one of the other matches played inside the tennis section of the Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos.
Godwin Kienka, Director of the International Tennis Academy, organizers of the talent discovery tournament informed our correspondent that the opening day was quite intense and interesting as expected.
“The round robin group matches will continue tomorrow as we look forward to more exciting matches from the next generation of youngsters,” he stated.
