AJC: Mubarak, Ogunshakin, Yakubu Lead Team Nigeria To Togo

Mubarak Ganiyu and Seun Ogunshakin are Nigeria’s leading youngsters to the African Junior Tennis Championship in Togo.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the pair, who are already in Togo as at the time of filing this report, will be playing in the Boys U-16 category alongside Yahaya Sani.

The Nigerian youngsters are expected to hoist the country’s flag when they face off with their counterparts from other parts of the continent when hostilities kick off this weekend.

Our correspondent gathered that Nene Yakubu and Etoro Bassey are the girls representing Nigeria in the Girls U-16 category.

In the Boys U-14, Nathaniel Aluko and David Edwards will be the Nigerian representatives, while Ndidi Osaji, Khadijat Mohammed and Bright Emmanuel will try to wreak havoc in Togo.

Veteran tennis coach, Rotimi Akinloye, who is reportedly in Togo, will be leading the players’ charge for success in the competition, as Nigeria seeks to restamp her dominance in age grade competitions.

The competition is billed to run from 7-15 January in Lome, Togo, while the players are expected to depart the shores of the country on Friday, 6 January.
