Nigeria’s Christopher Bulus surrendered a 4-1 lead in the semis of the ongoing ONG PLAY YOUR GAME Tennis Open in Benin Republic to return to Nigeria for his Team Offikwu’s all-important league encounter against Civil Defence.

According to reports gathered by Nigerian Tennis Live, the youngster who has been brewing with a lot of confidence, was winning the game in the West African country and was poised to qualify for the finals of the tournament, but play no further part in the tournament as he had to return to the country for his team’s NCC League semi final clash against Team Civil Defence.

Bulus is in the form of his life and will seek to get better by winning the NCC Tennis League.

Bulus, it was also gathered, could have easily won the tournament based on the pedigree of the players remaining in the tournament, but had to ditch the final round of matches to quickly return home ahead of the NCC League engagement.

Sources say the players are already in Abuja, where they are preparing really hard to take on their opponents in the must win clash dubbed the ‘final before final’ as both teams parade an array of stars and former national champions.

With the return to full fitness of Sylvester Emmanuel, Team Offikwu’s star player, the defending champions will be hoping to ensure their qualification for the final where they will be all but guaranteed N5million even if they lose the final round of matches.

Sarah Adegoke, who was also in Benin Republic for the invitational tournament, has since returned to the country, albeit after losing her match 3-6, 1-6.

All eyes will now be on both teams as they file out in their semi final fixture which could go either way due to the quality of players on parade for the encounter.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring the league matches and file a comprehensive report after the winner has been decided over two days.
