BREAKING! Nigeria’s No. 1 Player Pulls Out Of Dala Event, Reveals Why

David Ekpenyong, Nigeria’s number one male tennis player, has opted out of the Dala Hard Court event scheduled to host in November, 2023.

Ekpenyong, still smarting from his first-ever J100 title win in Accra, Ghana, told Nigeria Tennis Live that he will not be playing the Kano event because he will not be in the country at the time.

“I’ll not be playing the Dala Hard Court tournament because I’ll be in Mexico for the junior ITF tournaments I told you about earlier.

“I’ll be there for about three weeks, and the date for the Dala Tournament also clashes with one of the weeks, so, I’ll still be away,” Ekpenyong told our correspondent from Ghana, where he is preparing for the Mexico events.

With this development, the CBN Senior Tennis Open Championship defending champion will have to wait for his first ever Dala Hard Court title.

He lost to Uche Oparaoji in the final of the 2022 edition and with his recent trips, may have to wait for a while before finally clinching the elusive Kano title.

“Goodluck to all the participants,” he added via a post as well.

With Ekpenyong’s exemption from this tournament, both male and female Nigerian number one players are likely out of the championship.

Nigeria’s female number one, Marylove Edwards, is currently in the United States, with the Barth Hawtin Tennis Academy, where we learnt, she has been playing competitions.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep our readers up to date on information about the tournament as preparations continue to gain momentum.
