Tiger Tennis Foundation Overwhelmed By Unprecedented Turnout
Organizers of the Tiger Tennis Foundation Easter training and tournament for tennis players were overwhelmed by the number of players who registered to participate.
Moses Paul, the Founder of the Foundation, had informed Nigeria Tennis Live before the commencement of the training, that he was expecting about 150 kids.
But following registration of the players and arrival as at Tuesday, 19 April, it was discovered that over 200 players had besieged the National Stadium venue of the training and tournament for the Easter event.
Players came in from Abuja, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Lagos and Ekiti for the training, many of whom have been participating in national competitions.
Paul, popularly called MP by his friends and players, informed our correspondent that, “even when I told the coaches and players that they should not bother coming any longer because I already had the number we could cater for, they still came.
“One could tell from the way they spoke that they were just passionate about giving the children exposure and helping them participate with their friends from other parts of the country.
“And it’s exciting to have this number around for the training and tournament. I am very happy about this turnout, and we only expect to have many sponsors key into this and push for bigger things to come”
As at the time of having this discussion with the tennis coach, he informed that many other players were still on their way from other parts of the country, an indication that the number would increase tremendously.
“Baba, the people are still coming down here, they’ve just called me too that they’re coming. I am already overwhelmed, but I am still happy. We’ll keep doing this for the love we have for the sport,” Paul added.
National Junior tennis coaches were on hand to instruct the players and guide them through the training sessions according to their age categories.
The event is proudly supported and backed by the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) and Nigeria Tennis Live will keep reporting our followers on the latest from the tournament.
