CBN Open: Imeh Battles Enosoregbe, As Paul Dares Otu In Abuja

Today’s fixtures at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Tennis Open seem to be delicately poised with no fewer than three former Nigerian number one facing the race for the next round.

Joseph Imeh who is one of the favorites to win the tournament will have his full credentials put to test when he comes up against Clifford Enosoregbe, a former Nigerian number one, and former champion.

Both players have similar patterns to their games and this may make it quite difficult to pick an outright winner for this tie.

For Imeh, his recent form has never been in doubt as well as his ability. However, Enosoregbe, once tipped to be a top 500 player, is quite technical and posses a deadly and rather unusual one-hand backhand.

With the duo, only one thing is guaranteed, an absolute cracker.

Christian Paul, a Davis Cup player and National Sports Festival Gold Medal winner, he will have to be at his very best when he engages Thomas Otu today.

Oyinlomo Quadre: My biggest regret as African number one player

The former national champion and former number one is known for his trickery on court and his absolute relentlessness while Paul is the patient player who bides his time.

Otu will fancy his chances against his fair-skinned opponent at a time when he’s looking to remind people how good player he is.

Oyinlomo Quadre, Sarah Adegoke, Christie Agugbom and Aanu Aiyegbusi will all have to be at their best against their opponents.

They play against Bunmi Are, Bamidele Omolayo, Nene Yakubu and Stella Udokwelu. And even though they’re all expected to win, there are still elements of surprises that may spring up.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring activities of the day and report all the details to our teeming followers.
