New ITF Rankings: Oyinlomo Quadre Moves 68 Places, Now Africa’s Number One Junior Tennis Player
In spite of her loss at the Closed ITF Junior event in South Africa on Monday, Oyinlomo Quadre has moved up on the latest ITF rankings to emerge as Africa’s number one.
The youngster crushed her opponents at the J3 event in South Africa after an uneventful trip to Tunisia for two weeks of Grade 2 events.
And she was rewarded accordingly when the recent rankings were released by the world tennis governing body, on Monday evening, as she rose even beyond her fiercest rival, Yasmine Kabbaj from Morocco, who was occupying the position prior to the update.
Nigeria Tennis Live checks show that Quadre, 16, who’s Nigeria’s number one female tennis player, is now ranked 132 in the world, the highest ranking position she has ever had.
The super player shot up from 200 where she placed ahead of the J3 event in South Africa. But her unbeatable prowess in Madiba’s home ensured her unprecedented rise to the summit in Africa.
Although the player is believed to want to take a rest after four weeks on tour, she will relish the boost she had from the tournament in South Africa which placed her high and above every other player from the African continent.
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep up with the player’s progress in the coming weeks as she continues to grow in her tennis and gain international prominence for her stunning performances.
