Nigeria Tennis Live can authoritatively report that the Nigerian team to the ITF/CAT West & Central African Junior Tennis Championships have safely landed in Lome, Togo, for the competition.
Feelers from the West African country have it that the team landed in the country this evening and were already preparing for their first match in the individual event.
Our correspondent gathered that the individual events will kick off on Monday, 6 January and will last for the next four days, while the team event will kick off afterwards.
Nigeria is competing in the Boys and Girls 14/16 and under and the country has sent a strong delegation to Togo to prosecute this competition, Nigeria’s first competitive action of the year.
New ITF rules have now stipulated that only the teams that come out tops will qualify for the World Junior Championships and the Junior Davis Cup as against the initial situation where the winners and runners up make it to the competitions.
The players will know their fate on Monday morning when the draws for the individual events will be held, as gathered by our correspondent.
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep in touch with the team in Togo, and report all the updates to our esteemed followers and readers from all over the world.
