The first leg of the 2019 Lagos Open International Tennis Championship ended with Burundi’s Sada Nahimana and Calvin Hemery from France winning the women and men’s singles titles.

Even though the matches were delayed, rescheduled, canceled and postponed due to the incessant rainfall, the players ended up putting up outstanding performances which ended with an exciting finale on Monday, 14 October.

The players yelled, screamed, moaned, cried, kicked the air and pumped fists in series of emotional displays during the competition, but all of these are the ingredients that make tennis the game that it is.

Nigeria Tennis Live visited the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club venue of the competition and captured some of these unforgettable moments for our esteemed readers.

    Below are some of them:

Nigeria’s top female tennis player looking disappointed after losing one of her matches in the main draw of the ongoing competition.
Hale Darryl of Great Britain seeded three for the men’s qualifying series pumping his fist in the air after fighting so hard to defeat Nigeria’s Emmanuel Jebutu.
Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre cuts a dejected figure after her second round loss to Riya Bhatia of India. The youngster will hope to bounce back in the second leg.
One of Nigeria’s shining lights at this year’s competition, Emmanuel Jebutu, falls and remains on the court while trying to return a serve.
Sada Nahimana of Burundi who won the Women’s singles title looks unbelievably awed after losing a point in her final match against Brazil’s Laura Pigossi.
Men’s Singles winner, Calvin Hemery in a world of his own after winning a point during one of the matches at the first leg of the Lagos Open.
