The success recorded by Marylove Edwards over the years is beginning to stimulate something unusual in her younger brother, David, Nigerian Tennis Live can report.

The female Edwards has been the cynosure of all eyes since she broke into stardom at a rather young age and has since been rewarded with a sponsorship to train and develop her tennis at the Nick Bolleteri Tennis Academy in the United States of America.

It is these foot steps that the younger brother of the tennis prodigy want to follow, as he specifically mentioned that he wanted to travel to America too.

Marylove Edwards is already a mentor to her younger brother.

The 8-year-old youngster who made his tennis debut at the ongoing Junior CBN Tennis Open at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, beat Israel Iyano-Taiwo from Oyo State 6-0 in the one set match.

He said: “I love tennis and enjoy my training. I want to be better than my sister and also go to America.”

He will however have another outstanding 10 year old talent Jake Nzewi from the VGC Club, Lagos to contend with.

In the 10 & under girls event, Nene Yakubu the top seed from the Lagos Country Club beat club mate Osaheru Osayimwen 6-0.

The week long championship which is taking place at the National Stadium is featuring singles event in boys and girls, 10, 12, 14 and 16 and starts daily at 10 am.
