Seun Ogunsakin is edging closer to sitting among the top 100 junior tennis players in the world after his recent triumph in Pretoria, South Africa.
The 16-year-old Nigerian wonderkid triumphed at the recently-concluded J100 Pretoria event, where he won his second J100 title in three finals, a feat which has significantly had a huge effect on his world rankings.

Nigeria Tennis Live checks showed that the former African number one U-14 youngster moved 28 places from his previous 185th spot on the newly-released junior ITF rankings and is now the world’s 157th ranked junior player.

Ogunsakin who defeated India’s Samarth Sahita 6-2, 7-5 to clinch the boys’ Singles title in Pretoria, also moved upwards on the pecking order in Africa, sitting pretty as the seventh highest ranked African on the world tennis rankings.
The Tunisia-based power playing southpaw player is currently in South Africa, where he is participating in the J200 Pretoria event, his third consecutive week of tennis competition in the post apartheid nation.

He is currently in the second round of the tournament after defeating Russia’s Artem Semenov 6-3, 7-6(2) as he hopes to win his first ever J200 title after once reaching the quarterfinals of the event.
Ogunsakin, the tournament’s number five seed, will be up against Maksim Mihic from South Africa, for a spot in the quarterfinal of the tournament.
