No fewer than six players from the Naija Leap Sports tennis academy are in the Main Draw of the ongoing VEMP Open Championship in Abuja, Nigeria Tennis Live reports.
Recall that Samson Ayodeji, the Founder of the tennis academy informed our correspondent during an interview that they have 22 players (11 junior, 11 senior) on their cards.
And of this number, six of them will be competing for national honours in the next one week. The tournament’s number one seed Canice Abua, is leading the charge for the academy’s title haul on Monday.

He is joined by the Danjuma brothers, Isaac and Lucky alongside Abdulsalam Mohammed, Dahiru Mohammed and Mevi Irimiya.

The only female among the Naija Leap Sports academy players, is Mary Azi, in what will be the academy’s baptism of fire in national tournaments.

Abua, Nigeria’s number two ranked player, is currently the number one seed at the tournament and is one of the title hopefuls at the event after reaching back-to-back Dala Hard Court Championships and winning the last edition.
All eyes will also be on Lucky who is currently one of the hottest junior tennis players in Nigeria after winning four consecutive Junior ITF titles to reach top 400 in the world.
