The organizers of the fast approaching PTR Coaches Certification course have offered some participants grants to attend the four-day event.

Nigeria Tennis Live had reported that the event will be holding from 4-7 March, 2025 inside the Abeokuta Sports Club, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

And in a new development, the US-based Certified PTR Coach Developer, Abel Ubiebi, who will be administering the training, informed our correspondent that they had to give grants to some coaches to encourage them to participate.

He noted that exchange rate really affected a number of participants, hence the decision to offer grants to some of them.

According to him: “Some got 10% grant while some got 7% grant. We had to do this because we wanted to encourage as many people who have shown interest to participate in the event.

“For this year’s event, we had to move to Abeokuta to spread more awareness about this training and to also network with people from other parts of the country”.

While sharing that this year’s PTR Coaches Certification programme has registered participants from outside Nigeria, the Aces Tennis Academy Founder also informed Nigeria Tennis Live that a new tennis drill on fitness would be introduced.

“For now, we have people from Ghana and Liberia who have registered, apart from the Nigerians whom we have on board.

“In between the PTR Certification course, we will also have a Cardio Tennis Workshop. It is a fitness class that combines the elements of tennis and aerobic exercise. It is a structured, high-energy workout that provides a full-body workout while improving tennis skills.

“The class involves tennis drills such as hitting groundstrokes, volleys, and serves, but with modifications to focus on movement to improve cardio,” he explained.

Interested participants can reach out to the following contacts: Coach Abel Ubiebi +1 (312) 493-7113(WhatsApp only); Coach Henry Shedrach 08023200196; Coach Kehinde Ijaola 08033771818 for how to join this training.
