The Local Organising Committee, LOC of the ongoing Tombim Abuja ITF Futures in Nigeria’s Federal Capital, has asked players who intend to play in the preliminary stage of the tournament’s second leg to see the tournament referee, Anton Rens unfailingly by 6:00pm on Friday.
Making this disclosure to Naija Tennis Special in Abuja on Thursday evening was Barrister Ikani Agabi, Tournament Director, who hinted players that failure to register with Rens would automatically mean disqualification for them.

Edmond Ajoge, sponsor of the Tombim Abuja ITF Futures, wants more tournaments for the sport in Nigeria

“They have to register with Rens, the ITF Coordinator here, who is also the tournament referee starting from 4:00pm on Friday. The registration ends by 6:00pm same day and any player who fails to register before the stipulated time would have ruled himself out of the competition altogether.
“The same players who got the Wild Cards for the first leg will be issued same for the second leg as we hope to see improvements in the tournament on Monday when the second leg officially kicks off here”.
Nigeria’s only hope of advancing to the second round of the competition suffered a huge blow when Michael Moses was beaten 6-2, 6-2 by Matija Pecotic from Croatia in their quarterfinal match earlier today.
The Nigerian players will now look forward to go one better in the second leg of the ITF Futures event which the Sponsor has promised, will increase to about four next year.
